Exactly what I expected
I have been using one or another of these modular items for years. They are durable, easy to assemble, always fit together well, and serve as an excellent alternative to more expensive furniture, especially when you want a grouping that is difficult to find in one piece of furniture. This time, I needed a low cost file cabinet for my desk, and I wanted it to be wood, not metal, but most Wood File Cabinets are very expensive. And finding one in Espresso was very difficult. This was the perfect solution, and yes, they are designed for 8.5 by 11 hanging files, and come complete with the rods to hang the files on.

A cube for hanging files.
A very sturdy, strong box for files but not easy to assemble and doesn't hold enough files in comparison to the outside look. A nice Expresso color, large enough, and strong enough for sitting on if space is a priority. With a cusion, on top, it could easily be an extra seat, low enough for a child. Very nice looking, finished wood. My purchases from Amazon are always delivered promptly.
Storage cube
This storage cube works out fantastic where we wanted it. It stores everything we need and more. I will purchase another one when we finish remodeling everything.
